Site Review Committee

About Us

The Site Review Committee is comprised of members from other town committees and their charge is to review applications for building, constructing, demolishing and reconstructing on Chilmark property that fall within Districts of Critical Planning or locally defined overlay districts. More information about town districts and their permitted use can be found by using the links in the left menu.

If a project requires further oversight, the Site Review Committee will make a referral to the applicant to appear before other town committees, including the Board of Health, the Board of Appeals, the Conservation Commission, the Historical Commission and the Squibnocket Pond District Advisory Committee.

Applicants should start the Site Review process by first contacting the Building Department, who will refer the proposed development to the Site Review Committee, if necessary. 


There is no Site Review application form - the following will be required:

  • $20 fee
  • A site plan or another visual representation of the proposed project
  • A brief description of the project

The Site Review Committee meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 8am. Property owners are encouraged to attend meetings.
