Fire Department

Whether it’s a fire, traffic accident or just training, the ability of the Island's fire departments to provide quality service to the community is dependent on its volunteers. We are grateful to have our members who serve selflessly and always welcome interested volunteers.

55% OF FIREFIGHTERS ARE VOLUNTEERS, yet over the past 30 years, the number of volunteer firefighters has declined, while call volume continues to increase.

It is critical for the safety of our communities and our nation that we continue to have a strong volunteer fire service now and in the future.

WHAT IT TAKES TO VOLUNTEER

Being a volunteer firefighter is not about what you look like, what degree you have, or where you come from. It is about one thing: heart.
