Chief of Police Hiring Process

Preliminary Screening Committee has recommended three finalists to be interviewed on January 31, 2023 by the Chilmark Select Board for the position of Chief of Police.

The interviews will be held in person with the Select Board at a public session recorded by MVTV.  Everyone is welcome.  

The Finalists are three island police officers with years of experience.

The screening committee was made up of Bill Rossi, Tim Rich, Joan Malkin, and a representative of the HRB Irene Ziebarth. 

They interviewed four of the seven applicants.  They recommend that Jesse Burton, Sean Slavin & Garrison Vieira continue on as the three finalists to be publicly interviewed by the Select Board.

The location and of the interviews will be posted next week. 

A meeting to possibly vote a preliminary offer of employment is scheduled for February 1, 2023 with the expectation of an appointment on February 7, 2023.
