In accordance with Section 5 of Chapter 40A of the Massachusetts General Laws, the Chilmark Planning Board will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, July 13, 2026, 5:15PM at the Chilmark Town Hall, at 401 Middle Road, Chilmark, MA 02535 to review proposed amendments to the Chilmark Zoning Bylaws as follows:
To amend the Chilmark Zoning Bylaws Article 4.1, K. 5. Protected Use Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) to allow a Floor Area of 1080 SF on lots of 1-1/2 acre or larger.
The proposal would amend 5. to be the following: 5) A Protected Use ADU shall not be larger in Floor Area than 900 square feet on lots smaller than 1-1/2 acres, and shall not be larger in Floor Area than 1080 square feet, on lots of 1-1/2 acres or more, not including a screen porch of 200 square feet or less for all lot sizes.
