  • The Martha’s Vineyard Commission is engaged in a multi-year project of assessing the health of up-island ponds, with the goal of securing state funding for mitigation efforts to improve the health of the ponds. The collective effort is known as the Up-Island Watershed Management Plan Committee. The Squibnocket Pond District Advisory Committee participates in the Squibnocket Pond Working Group.
  • In 2020, two island conservation organizations – Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation and the MV Land Bank -- purchased property on the western end of Squibnocket Pond and are in the process of creating the Squibnocket Pond Reservation.
