Notice of Advance Removal of Early Ballots from Voter Affidavit Envelopes

In accordance with the Secretary of State Regulations 47.12 and under the provisions of section 7(k) of Chapter 115 of the Acts of 2020, the Chilmark Community Center, at 520 South Road, will be the site of advance removal of early in-person and mailed ballots, for the Sept. 1, 2020 State Primary, from voter affidavit envelopes (EV7s & AV7s) on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 8AM.

The advance removal of early in-person and mailed ballots from voter affidavit envelopes (EV7s & AV7s) will continue on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 8AM.

The advance removal processing session is open to public observation.

A list of names of voters whose early ballots will be advance removed from voter affidavit envelopes (EV7s & AV7s) will be posted prior to 8AM on Thursday, August 27, 2020 and prior to 8AM on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Chilmark Community Center.

The following information will constitute the record of the advance removal process on each day of processing:

  • The number of ballot envelopes processed by party
  • The number of ballot envelopes accepted
  • The number of ballot envelopes not accepted
  • The number of ballot envelopes rejected

At the conclusion of the advance removal process, the ballots will be securely stored, separated by party and by the date on which they were processed, until Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020 State Primary Election Day. On the day of the election, all ballots will be cast into the ballot box.
