Hazardous Waste Collection

Products containing mercury are collected free of charge at all of the District facilities during their regular business hours. This includes watch batteries, hearing aid batteries, thermometers, barometers, fluorescent bulbs and neon bulbs all free of charge.

Other Hazardous Wastes are collected THREE times a year, free of charge, for ALL island residents.

Motor oil, oil based paints, stains, thinners and other hazardous waste are accepted.
(Latex paint NOT accepted! open cover, spread paint out and dry or purchase "krud" paint hardener at many local Island Hardware stores. After latex paint is a solid then dispose in regular waste stream)
EVERYONE MUST STAY IN YOUR CAR, ALL CONTAINERS MUST BE IN REAR MOST PART OF VEHICLE.
ALL CONTAINERS TAKEN OUT OF CAR WILL NOT BE RETURNED

  • Saturday May 21, 2022, from 9:00am to 12:00 noon.
  • July 16, 2022, from 9:00am to 12:00 noon.
  • October 15, 2022, from 9:00am to 12:00 noon.
