Poetic Voice with Jill Jupen

Wednesday, September 29, 4:00: Poetic Voice, with Poet Laureate Jill Jupen.
Poetry is the expression of sentiments in carefully crafted words. Songs are these sentiments set to music.  Why are some poet’s poems easy to recognize as theirs, some songwriter’s lyrics obviously theirs? How is that art learned? Can it be learned? In this discussion we will delve into the question--What is poetic voice? And do we all have it within us?
Jill Jupen is the Poet Laureate of Martha's Vineyard, and has lived on the island for 21 years. She was born and raised in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont where she was a psychiatric nurse. Her chapbook "The Space Between" was published by Plan B Press in 2018. She lives on the island with her husband, three Jack Russells, and a whole lot of books.
