Welcome to the Town of Chilmark, MA
Parks & Recreation Minutes 11/30/17

Present for the Park & Recreation Committee and attending the meeting were:           Andy Goldman, Chairman, Warren Doty, Tim Carroll, Jim Malkin, Jane Slater,           Julie Flanders and Chuck Hodgkinson.  

The meeting came to order at 8:05 AM.

2018 bulkhead lot standards:  Mr. Goldman summarized the Committee’s agreement to establish specific performance standards for calendar year 2018.  He further suggested a collaborative method of creating the use standards for each of the bulkhead lot lessee’s by inviting each tenant to submit their suggestions.  This would help the Committee in establishing realistic performance goals.  The Committee also agreed and reiterated the Board members would ultimately decide on the final criteria for each lot based upon the tenant’s specific use.

Mr. Goldman offered to draft a letter to each tenant for committee input before mailing them to the respective tenants.  The deadline for tenant input would be December 14 which will give the committee a week to consider the suggestions before their next meeting on December 21st.

Time will be reserved for topics the Chair did not reasonably anticipate:  Mr. Malkin explained the storage shed behind the harbormaster’s shack is in disrepair.  It is used by the Harbormaster and the Beach Committee.  Mr. Malkin asked for committee input on building a new storage shed and locating it in a different spot.  This would then provide space in the back of the harbor shack for the administrator during the season and enable the accessible ramp to be relocated and built to specification.  The Committee thought this is a good idea.


The November 16, 2017 meeting minutes were reviewed and approved as presented by consensus.

With no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:00 AM.

The next meeting will be December 21, 2017 @ 8:00 AM.
