Present:  Katie Carroll, Matt Poole,

Absent:  Jan Buhrman

Also Present: Reid Silva (Vineyard Land Surveying & Engineering)

Minutes of December 20, 2017 were approved.

Emin, 14 Fannie’s Way (13-10.2)  The Board reviewed a septic system construction permit application presented by Reid Silva to serve a two-bedroom dwelling on a 24,000sf lot.  The proposed system does not require variances and was approved by the Board.

King, 20 Mayhew Lane (21-55,56,57)   Reid Silva presented a septic system upgrade proposal for an existing three-bedroom dwelling which requires a variance from Chilmark BOH leaching area separation requirement of 30’ from the property line down to 14’.  The Board noted that the proposed upgrade is an improvement over the existing system and therefore does not require a public hearing.  The Board approved the plan.

Hoffman, 219 Middle Road (19-21) Reid Silva presented a septic system construction plan to serve a proposed two-bedroom accessory apartment.  The proposal would keep the existing system serving the main house in place at this time, but build sufficient capacity in the new leaching system to accommodate the existing 2 bedroom house to tie in when the old system fails.  The proposed plan does not require variances and was approved by the Board of Health.

BOH Budget FY’19   The Board approved the proposed budget as submitted.  Katie Carroll will present the budget to the Chilmark Finance Committee.  The Board asked Marina Lent to work with Accountant Ellen Biskis on possible adjustments to the line items listed for the Waste Disposal budget.

Septage Hauling procedures   Matt Poole suggested that the matter could be discussed with other towns at the monthly Health Agents meetings to develop a joint response.

Administrative Assistant to the BOH:  Marina Lent will work with Katie Carroll to address concerns of the Board.

Invoices:  The Board approved the following invoices for payment:

  • Reimburse Marina Lent for Skillworks online course ”Water Chemistry” $157.75
  • MVRD Municipal waste: four (4) matresses $100

The meeting adjourned at 19:10 hours.
