The Governor and Board of Selectmen have declared a State of Emergency in anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Earl tomorrow afternoon.
You are encouraged to take all necessary precautions to protect your home and family before noon on Friday. You should consider having five days worth of drinking water, non-perishable foods and any medicines on hand.
Please avoid traveling during the storm unless it is an emergency. Consider all roads and businesses closed after 2 PM on Friday.
You should shelter at your home if it is safe to do so. If you are in a low lying area or otherwise feel the need to evacuate, the Chilmark Community Center will open as our Shelter at 12 noon on Friday.
