Chilmark Beach Committee
June 29th, 2010

Meeting called to order at 5:40pm
Voted to approve the minutes from June 1st, 2010.
Update from the Superintendent about having lost a couple of guards due to illness & injury.
The cliff is passable during low tide. There have been no contentious situations with patrons because of the cliff being impassable during mid & high tide.
Red Cross drills started today. There will be three total this season.
Discussion about the dune restoration project, one of the conditions from the Conservation Commission is to have a removable boardwalk be placed starting on the path to the left up until the beginning of the cliff. The Superintendent will get pricing on hay bales, wood & Rosa Ragusa plants, beach grass & wooden stakes to draft a warrant article for the Special Town Meeting this fall.
The Committee reviewed Lucy Vincent Beach dune restoration pamphlet idea & some posters to broaden awareness, pending revisions, motion made, seconded & voted unanimously.
The Committee discussed with Megan an idea for a letter to the editor about the Lucy Vincent Beach dune restoration project instead of exploring the idea of an article for the newspaper.
The Committee & Superintendent discussed ideas about proposing to the Board of Selectmen a warrant article to create a fund for dune restoration & for the three year plan approved by Conservation Commission.
The Superintendent proposed to put a line down the middle of the Squibnocket parking lot. To help guards line up cars while keeping the circle open for smooth access. Motion made, seconded & voted unanimously.
Draft a letter of Board of Selectmen about dogs on Squibnocket Beach.
Committee received a letter from Alan Friedberg complimenting Superintendents work with abutting property issues.
