As you are aware, Eversource filed a rate case on January 17, 2017 with the Department of Public Utilities (DPU). This is Eversource's first fully litigated rate case since the 1980's and will determine the charges Eversource is allowed to impose on the distribution (delivery) side of the electric bill. This rate case is going to affect ALL residents and businesses on Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard.
The Cape Light Compact Governing Board discussed this proceeding and has concerns regarding Eversource’s proposed rate case. The Board voted to petition the DPU to intervene in this proceeding, and the DPU approved the Compact's intervention. The Compact is working on behalf of Cape and Vineyard ratepayers to review the impact of this proposal on our electric bills.
The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is holding a public hearing on Martha's Vineyard, which will be an opportunity for ratepayers to attend and voice their concerns about what is being proposed.
If you are not able to attend the hearing, you can submit written comments to the DPU by 5/31. Visit our website for instructions on how to submit.
The Compact has put together some specific information for residential customers that you may use for the public hearing or in your written comments.
Many businesses will also be affected, and the Compact is currently reviewing the impact. We have also put together some specific information for those customers.
