Delivering 100% Renewable Energy - Today and Tomorrow
In January of 2017, Cape Light Compact’s electric supply customers will benefit from Cape Light Compact’s agreement with NextEra® Energy Services Massachusetts (NextEra Energy Services). The Cape Light Compact selected NextEra Energy Services through a competitive process in 2014 to provide electricity to commercial customers on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. The Compact has extended its contract with NextEra Energy Services through December 2018 to provide electricity to all of the Compact’s electric customers. NextEra Energy Services will provide Cape and Vineyard customers’ electricity that is matched 100% with renewable energy sources and is price competitive with Eversource’s Basic Service.
Fulfilling the Cape Light Compact’s Mission
The Cape Light Compact’s mission is to serve its 200,000 customers through the delivery of proven energy efficiency programs, effective consumer advocacy, competitive electricity supply and renewable power options. As a local renewable energy resource that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, improves health and safety, and reduces environmental compliance costs, the New Bedford Landfill contributes significantly to the fulfillment of the Cape Light Compact’s mission. Cape Light Compact’s participation in the EarthEra program will further that mission by ensuring that payments from customers are invested in the development of additional regional renewable energy facilities.
